Running Accomplishments:

 I started running last year, my first race was December 2008. It was my first 5k. In the past year I have done 5k's, a 5 miler, 10k, 10 miler and my first half marathon. I started running so I could keep off the weight I had lost (70 pounds). And in running, I have found solace, peace, and friendships.

Short-Term Running Goals:

 My goals for 2010 are:

*2150 total miles

*finish a walking/jogging marathon

*a 2 hour half marathon

Long-Term Running Goals:

  I want to take each year as it comes.

2009 goal was just to run. I did make the goal of 2000 miles. It was my first year running. I will update my total on the 31st of January.

 

Personal:

 This past year has been frought with difficulty, trials, and stress. But it has also been a blessing. I learned what I can do, what my body can do, and how to make myself what I want to be.

My three kids have been a wonderful inspiration, and my husband, not matter how we fuss, fit or fight, is ultimately my best friend.

did a nice run..feels good!

might do a 6  mile bike ride this afternoon, depending on the weather..I want to start cross training on something else. I don't want to get burned out on running...

 

 

I BROKE 1000 MILES FOR THE YEAR, SO FAR!!!  OVER 1000 MILES!!!  FOR SOMEONE THAT JUST STARTED RUNNING...QUITE A BIG DEAL FOR ME!  I AM SO PROUD OF MYSELF!

did 45 min on the treadmill, and 15 on the elliptical. 

Our old gym has mysteriously shut down. No gym member could get in yesterday or today. the manager is no where to be found, and man was I pissed! So we went to another gym that we have been thinking about trying, signed up for their free week, and we will sign the contract next week.

took yesterday off. took a nice 3.5 mile walk with hubby. trying to work on our issues. booked our anniversary weekend at a water park. making it a family weekend, but the nights we are going out together....alone.

did a nice outside run this morning, heading to the gym tonight!

PS: still hate the michigan weather...windy as all get out!

 

did a quick 4 miles at the gym.

starting tomorrow I am doing 5 miles in the morning at the gym, 6.22 mile bike ride and then a 6.22 mile run.  Need to firm up, lose a little bit of weight, and build up some more muscle in my legs.

 Is there a layout that can track running miles AND biking miles?

did weights this morning, no running. then went on a 6.42 mile bike ride. Worked my quads really well. Haven't been on a bike in over a year. I crashed into a fence pole and hurt my elbow last year. nothing major, but enough to where I shyed away from it. now I need to cross train, and biking is as good as any!

 did my usual after noon 6.22 miles.  the wind is kicking up pretty bad, and the weather isn't that warm. What happened to summer coming?  I hate Michigan weather. I hate it, hate it hate it!

and this afternoon will be another 4 running outside. after all, it is my day off from working out!  LOL!

I'm getting increasingly frustrated. Dh (darling husband) doesn't want to go to the gym in the morning...too many men (almost none) look at me. there is one guy that goes in the morning, and dh talks to him.  so we are now going at night. when it is a total meat market. huh? i am frustrated with him and his ideas and my only outlet is running or biking.  pretty soon one of three things will happen: i will get really really skinny, get really really fast, or get really really single.

did a quick 6 mile run. i loved every step of it. maybe there is something to taking a day off every once in a while!

question of the day: when is it ok to be happy with what you are doing, instead of compairing yourself to more experienced runners? I have a hard time not beating myself up for not going faster, going farther, for breathing hard, for whatever i think i am doing wrong.  Reality of it is, i am an ex-smoker (9 months clean) and it takes at least a year for your lungs to recover. I smoked for 17 years, so I shouldn't be so hard on myself. Top it off, I have been seriously running for about 9 months, and there are people that have been doing it for years, and they don't have the self doubt that I do.  So, people in blog land, what is the key to getting rid of the self doubt and loathing????

did my morning bike ride. felt good!

i wasn't feeling well today. becoming increasingly irritated and irritable. i don't know why my self esteem has hit an all time low....really feeling down and out of it.  dont' know how to see the light at the end of the tunnel.  but it will come. i hope

did a 45 min run today. did the last mile at my 5k pace, 7:30. Felt so good to channel my anger and energy.  might do another run today...supposed to be stormy today, but we will see!

My mojo is back!  I spent yesterday feeling sorry for myself, being down, eating crap food, and feeling like crap. I did a decent run yesterday, but still felt blah.

but today...man I kicked butt!  Did 30 min of speed intervals, some incline intervals, and the last two miles sprinting it out!  Every step, every second, I felt stronger and more in control.

My mojo is back....I'm back!

did a great 6.42 mile ride this morning. looking forward to my afternoon runs!  got my mojo back.......!

did my afternoon run. felt good. although everything was conspiring against me! Not even a slight breeze all day, but when I started running, a strong wind kicked up....the whole time! I got a rock in my shoe, my sunglasses fell apart (when I was on a rough patch of trail, I swear each step something fell off my glasses!), I had to pee in the woods ( I am not a fan of peeing in the woods!), but my legs didn't give out. I ran 4 miles with a rock in my shoe...felt good to take it off!  LOL!

45 min of quarter mile intervals. felt good!

didn't go to the gym last night...i sliced a huge hunk of skin off my finger...bled like a stuck pig. got dizzy and nearly threw up. can't handle my own blood.

did 6.42 miles on the bike. felt good, getting more confident in riding. after a few more months of riding, next year i might do a duathlon.  why not?????

did my afternoon run of 6.22 miles. took forever...had to stop twice to pee!  Thankfully there is a well equiped bathroom at a park on my route....thank God for Michigan parks!

Did a nice ride this morning. i'm dropping the gears, to make it harder on my legs. I don't have a lot of time to ride in the morning, so i have to make the most of what I do have.  My quads are already getting stronger. It feels so dam good! Can't wait for my run this afternoon, and I am going to the gym tonight too!  whoopee!

I was well on my way to a nice run, when my stomach jumped into my throat, forcing me to stop and throw up.  Great....managed 3 miles. ate some toast and will be trying again at the gym tonight. hopefully I won't barf on the treadmill!

*tee-hee* As I was running tonight, good pace, great sweat....I realized that today was supposed to be my day off! *giggle* What a dork I am. So I did 3.1 miles and then did some weights. felt good!

I've been going through a really rough time the last few days. Dh has decided he doesn't want me volunteering at RF anymore. Says it costs too much in fuel for me to go out there. So I had to quit. I have been very upset about it, we almost split up yesterday because of it. I was looking for a new house to move to.

But what is done is done. I told RF that I was moving, so I could just cut the ties. Which also means no more races. I  have to find another goal to shoot for, so i don't become un motivated.

My heart and spirit are broken.  And I don't know what I can do to get it back.

Dh apologized. He actually apologized. He realized that I am more than just a wife and mother, that I can do more and be more.  I am in shock.

Did my 6.42 mile ride this morning. And 6 mile run this afternoon. I have another 5-6 miles at the gym tonight. Looking forward to it!

felt good...did 45 min on the treadmill this morning and heavy lower body weights.

Did my 6.42  mile bike ride. Next week I will have to find another route...trying to add a little more each week.

 Did another 7 miles out side. my butt hurts, i'm drenched in sweat, and my nose is running, but i feel great!

Didn't bike this morning...raining cats and dogs!

So I went for my run. Started out strong, great play list, and it started raining. Ok, no big deal. I am Northwest born and raised, a little rain won't hurt me. Splashing around my trail run, I get the wise idea to push it to 10 miles. See how it feels. Ok, going going going, doing a mile of hills, just to cut one extra lap off my run, but still keep it at 10 miles, going going, on my way home, I WANT MORE!  *tee-hee* I wanted to see how 10 straight miles felt. I usually do 6-7 outside miles and 3-5 inside, but I wanted 10 straight outside miles. I can't wait for next Saturday's race. I don't care where I place. I want to be able to say I have done a 10 miler!  Whoo hoo, go me!

did 1.3 miles on the treadmill, my knee started hurting, so i got off. did some heavy lower body weights. felt good!

didn't go to the gym last night, instead I packed my bags and I was ready to walk out the door.  I am so tired of feeling second best, second rate. But cooler heads prevailed, we have counseling next week, and if I am going to put my all in trying to keep this family together, then I have to remain level headed.

did 6.15 miles on the treadmill, had to stop a bit early, almost peed my pants!

Beginning of race week, keeping my milage low, but still running. I didn't think it was going to be hard to only do 4 miles this morning.....but it was hard to stop at 4! Thankfully I will do 3 this afternoon, and bike 6.42. Love it!

Did my bike ride and arm weights. Moved up from 4 pound weights to 5 pounds. Doesn't sound like much, but I have been doing a lot of reps, and my arms are getting tighter and harder!  Whoo hoo!

Did my morning 4. I am having a hard time with shorter distances lately. I warm up and really hit my stride at between 3.5 and 4 miles.  Kinda makes me nuts!

I have to go into RF tomorrow and turn in 750 race packets. Scanned them into the computer and now I get to go into work. I love RF. I love how I feel while I am there. Not working for the last couple of years has been hard, but when I am at RF, I feel like I am doing some good.  I really love it!

Did my 6.42 miles. It's getting ready to rain out there. I hope no lightening...that's the only thing that will keep me from running today. No wind, no rain, no dark of night will keep me from my appointed miles....*tee-hee*  Oh and I am losing another toe nail. The same toe that I lost my last one. Probably gonna be a chronic problem....lucky me!

Hubby didn't want to go to the gym today...blah on him! So I did my 7 mile run. I hate the 3 miles it takes to warm up, but then I hit my stride and off I go. I feel so freaking good!  As long as I know I can go as far as I want, I am so good!

Not biking today, it's raining. I love running in the rain.  cools me off, keeps the sweat from dripping, and I like it.  Looking forward to Saturday's race. My first 10 miler. Based on last years times, I have a good chance of placing.  But, for me, no matter where I come in at, I am going to win it. because it is the first 10 miler i am doing (but not the last) and as long as I finish, then it is better than I have ever done!

did a quick 4 miles. we didn't go to the gym this morning. I didn't sleep well, when I finally did get some sleep. just couldn't fall asleep. nervous about the race on saturday, worried about a bunch of things. but I will go tonight. because tomorrow is rest day...nothing but rest.  then the big race on Saturday.

 did my 3 at the gym...my next entry will be my race report!  i'm so excited!
