Running Accomplishments:

 I started running last year, my first race was December 2008. It was my first 5k. In the past year I have done 5k's, a 5 miler, 10k, 10 miler and my first half marathon. I started running so I could keep off the weight I had lost (70 pounds). And in running, I have found solace, peace, and friendships.

Short-Term Running Goals:

 My goals for 2010 are:

*2150 total miles

*finish a walking/jogging marathon

*a 2 hour half marathon

Long-Term Running Goals:

  I want to take each year as it comes.

2009 goal was just to run. I did make the goal of 2000 miles. It was my first year running. I will update my total on the 31st of January.

 

Personal:

 This past year has been frought with difficulty, trials, and stress. But it has also been a blessing. I learned what I can do, what my body can do, and how to make myself what I want to be.

My three kids have been a wonderful inspiration, and my husband, not matter how we fuss, fit or fight, is ultimately my best friend.

my hand slipped and I sliced my finger open at the gym tonight.  Hurts bad, bled like a stuck pig!  Managed to squeeze in 3.56 miles.  poop!

my knee is killing me.  had to stop my run, the pain was so bad.  doctors appointment on Friday.

did 30 min run. knee feeling better, but I have been working out too hard, starting to burn out.  have a race on Sunday, so I am taking it easy the rest of the week.  took me a while to figure it out, but i did, and i need to take care of myself.

Out of 1700 runners, I came in 373 overall, 17th (out of 143) for my division, and 108th (out of 959) out of all the women.  It was a hilly course, with two big hills.  All that incline training I was doing paid off!  I have been fighting a cold the last few days, and even though my time was not as fast as I wanted, I passed people (more experienced runners) on the hills, and I did a great job!  Not  bad for my third race!

My husband came in 41st for his division and 654th out of the men!  Not bad for a second race!

This cold has officially settled in my chest. Now I have to fight the cold AND train for my first 10K, which is in 2 weeks. Lucky me!

My cold has settled in my voice and my chest. My voice is going, and everyone is rejoycing! LOL! Still did my 7 miles this morning. I have weights this morning and another 3 mile run!

 

Did my mid morning circuit weight training.

I decided to take two days a week for rest.  I was over training, and exhausting myself.  Today was a great run.  Did incline intervals. 0.0 - 1.5 incline on the treadmill, up .5 every five minutes, for 5 minutes, for one hour.  Felt good!

my knee started hurting pretty bad this morning. I will make up the milage this afternoon.

my knee started hurting at about 2.5 miles.  I don't want to risk injury before my first 10k. I will be doing anther run this afternoon.

I did 4 miles with almost no pain in my knee.  Maybe it is my body's way of telling me to decrease my inside milage and increase my outside milage!
