| Location: Ypsilanti,MI,United States Member Since: Dec 13, 2008 Gender: Female Goal Type: Marathon Finish Running Accomplishments: I started running last year, my first race was December 2008. It was my first 5k. In the past year I have done 5k's, a 5 miler, 10k, 10 miler and my first half marathon. I started running so I could keep off the weight I had lost (70 pounds). And in running, I have found solace, peace, and friendships. Short-Term Running Goals: My goals for 2010 are:
*2150 total miles
*finish a walking/jogging marathon
*a 2 hour half marathon Long-Term Running Goals: I want to take each year as it comes.
2009 goal was just to run. I did make the goal of 2000 miles. It was my first year running. I will update my total on the 31st of January.
Personal: This past year has been frought with difficulty, trials, and stress. But it has also been a blessing. I learned what I can do, what my body can do, and how to make myself what I want to be.
My three kids have been a wonderful inspiration, and my husband, not matter how we fuss, fit or fight, is ultimately my best friend. |

Shamrocks and Shenanigans (3.1 Miles) 00:24:43, Place overall: 373, Place in age division: 17 | |
Out of 1700 runners, I came in 373 overall, 17th (out of 143) for my division, and 108th (out of 959) out of all the women. It was a hilly course, with two big hills. All that incline training I was doing paid off! I have been fighting a cold the last few days, and even though my time was not as fast as I wanted, I passed people (more experienced runners) on the hills, and I did a great job! Not bad for my third race!

My cold has settled in my voice and my chest. My voice is going, and everyone is rejoycing! LOL! Still did my 7 miles this morning. I have weights this morning and another 3 mile run!

I decided to take two days a week for rest. I was over training, and exhausting myself. Today was a great run. Did incline intervals. 0.0 - 1.5 incline on the treadmill, up .5 every five minutes, for 5 minutes, for one hour. Felt good! | Add Comment |

my knee started hurting at about 2.5 miles. I don't want to risk injury before my first 10k. I will be doing anther run this afternoon. I did 4 miles with almost no pain in my knee. Maybe it is my body's way of telling me to decrease my inside milage and increase my outside milage!
