Running Accomplishments:

 I started running last year, my first race was December 2008. It was my first 5k. In the past year I have done 5k's, a 5 miler, 10k, 10 miler and my first half marathon. I started running so I could keep off the weight I had lost (70 pounds). And in running, I have found solace, peace, and friendships.

Short-Term Running Goals:

 My goals for 2010 are:

*2150 total miles

*finish a walking/jogging marathon

*a 2 hour half marathon

Long-Term Running Goals:

  I want to take each year as it comes.

2009 goal was just to run. I did make the goal of 2000 miles. It was my first year running. I will update my total on the 31st of January.

 

Personal:

 This past year has been frought with difficulty, trials, and stress. But it has also been a blessing. I learned what I can do, what my body can do, and how to make myself what I want to be.

My three kids have been a wonderful inspiration, and my husband, not matter how we fuss, fit or fight, is ultimately my best friend.

Still waiting on the results to be posted...I will put them up as soon as I get them!

 

Not too bad!  I came in 32 out of 143, 6th in my division, 161 out of 415 runners.  My time was good..88 min, 34 seconds. My goal was under 100 min!  Not bad for a first 10 mile race!

It was a good course, a few steep hills, on part of a path was up hill, sideways!  About mile 6, my hip started hurting, but I kept pushing through.

At the end, I sprinted past two runners, just reaching deep into the last bit of energy, and pulled it off! I was walking off the pain, when a guy came up to me and told me that I did a good race. I told him it was my first 10 miler, and he said he recognized me by my shorts (they were a  maroon colored shorts), that I passed him and ran infront of him at about mile 2, and he caught up to me and I passed him again about mile 5. What was he doing, watching my butt? At least that is what my husband said when he walked up and heard the guy talking!  *TEE-HEE*

Not a bad first run! I am very proud of myself!  I set a goal, and I accomplished it!  YEAH ME!

Did a quick 5 miles. Didn't want to do too much, but couldn't stand not doing anything. So a compromise.....and on Monday, I start training for a half marathon.  I have 56 days to get ready!

Did my bike ride this morning, followed by weights.  Gonna go for a run outside soon, then hit the gym tonight. 

I decided on my first duathlon. It will be next year in October. I know it is a good distance away, but it not only gives me a chance to get better on a bike, but also still train for the marathon.  My next year schedule will be pretty full...half marathon in April, marathon in September and the duathlon in October. The duathlon will be 5k run, 20k ride, 5k run. My husband said he might enter it with me. He is a wiz on a bike, slower at running though. But it is a goal to shoot for!

did my outside 7. felt good! almost got hit in the head by a golf ball. there is a course right behind the path I run on.  That woulda hurt!

didn't go to the gym last night...too tired.

did 3.5 this morning, still recovering from Saturday.  did my bike ride and now I'm off to do 8-9 miles.

I had a good pace, on the last two miles, coming down a steep hillo (which I run all the time) and I biffed it. Tripped on something, my right hand extended and landed, and pushed me to my left side. Now I have a bit of a bruise and some road rash. but hey, road rash is good for the runners soul!

I love my workouts. what really irritates me is when over weight women in this neighborhood stare at me, point, and giggle as they are stuffing twinkies in their mouths.  I'm sorry you have a weight problem. I did too. But instead of pointing at me, try asking how you can control yourself.  I've gotten to the point that I make faces at them. Not the most mature thing to do, but staring at me when I am running or biking....yeah, I'm trying to get "u man" to look at me, Yeah, I'm the skinny bitch trying to take you man.... I undestand that some women are insecure, but come on, I'm not running for you, or "you man", or even my husband. I am running for me.  It's all FOR ME!

 

*tee-hee* this should tell you how bad at math I am.....I was planning on doing 8 miles outside today..and I did. I meant to bring my daily total to 12.3, I thought I counted right, but low and behold 8 + 5.3 does not equal 12.3....its 13.3. *tee-hee* at least I did a good run, and didn't fall!

Did a good strong 5.25 miles this morning. 3.25 speed intervals (6.0 to 8.5 mph), and 2 miles of incline intervals. First time in a while that a morning run felt good!

I did my ride this morning. And I almost got hit by a car! I was going through a clear driveway, when a car darted out. I jamed on the brakes, but low and behold, my darling husband didn't fix the rear breaks like I've asked (my fault, I should have checked first). So I went ass over head onto the ground. No biggie until I looked up and the lady in the car was laughing. I swear she was laughing and eating a twinkie. My knees were bloodied up, my leg got caught under the bike, and my hands were scrapped up. I stood up, she was still laughing, flipped me off and drove off. I called her a couple of choice names, finished my ride and went home. My knees are fine, but I have a huge knot in my calf. I'm going to rest for a bit, I may not be able to do my second run today, if it's still hurting.  Any wonder why I'm not a people person????!!!!!

 

Managed to do 7.5 miles. It felt good, but the last lap, I opted out of doing the half mile hill. So, I landed at 7.5. Not bad. the bruising is really starting to develop. Its not too bad, but I'm going to ice it some more.

Did a nice 8 mile run this morning. I felt good enough to do more, but two things stopped me: today is supposed to be a recovery day...and I don't want to push my leg until the soreness is gone. So a nice simple 8.1 mile run.  I'm going to have to change up my mileage next week. 8 miles isn't as challenging as it used to be. Gonna have to expand my late morning runs.

Oh yeah, my best week ever: 57.69 miles....still have more to do tomorrow, but by far my best week EVER!

did my nice 45 min intervals...had to stop at 2 miles to pee...thought I was gonna wet my pants on the treadmill!  *tee-hee* what a way to start the week!

did a longer bike route today. got the hubby to fix the brakes last night....finally! *tee-hee* i told him he doesn't have enough life insurance on me to leave the brakes not working.....*giggle*

 Did my outside run. My goal was 7 miles, but the humidity is so freakishly high, it was hard to breathe. So I walked the last half mile. no biggie....

I am also discovering the importance of recovery days. Although I did hit a weekly high on miles last week, I am paying for it now. Since I have to go to RF on Thursday, I was planning on doing a quick run before I went to work, I am making Thursday my recovery day. I need the rest!  I do!

did my 45 min of intervals. feels good!

the bike ride is oddly relaxing. I can let my thoughts wander, but I don't get tired of hearing them. On a long run, I do, which is why I listen to music. But on the bike ride, it is just enough time for me to think of things....sometimes odd, sometimes not!

I ran in the wrong shoes....owie!  but i did it. now, time to relax and make race packets! fun fun!

Did a short 30 min intervals today. 5 min at 6.5, 7.0, and 7.5 mph. Legs still sore from yesterday's bad run! lucky me!

did my seven miles on the bike. feels good to make the legs burn a bit!

did my 8 miles outside...legs still a little sore from yesterday, but I wanted to push it a bit. tomorrow is my day off, so I pushed it.

yesterday was just long...took the day off from working out. spent all day at RF. Did all the info packets on the upcoming ultra marathon and relay. I am so so so not ready for one, but I am going to go volunteer to help. I want to see what one looks like. Looking forward to it!

this morning I did 45 min of 5 min speed intervals, 6.5 to 7.5, for three sets. felt good and strong. I guess a day of recovery IS a good thing!

nice bike ride...got a lot of thinking done!

Oh man, thank goodness for port a potties. Although I have an irrational fear of them (who hasn't heard the story of the creepy man at the bottom of the toilet looking up...has always scared the hell outta me!) I had to pee so so so so bad...my eyeballs were floating!  *tee-hee* . but i did my 8 miles, and an additional .05, just for kicks!

I decided on the next two years of races:

this year is gonna be my half marathon.

next year is gonna be my marathon and duathalon

then 2011, I am going for an ultra marathon, Dances with Dirt in Hell Michigan! Can't wait!

didn't go to the gym this morning, dh had to get to work early. did my bike ride, and I hate to say it, but i'm getting bored with my route! I need to find something more challenging and longer. The hills I was riding on are no longer hard, and the distance, although it makes me sweat, isn't a challenge.  That's not something I thought I would ever say....*tee-hee*

I have a long run to do today....it's supposed to storm off and on today. And the last time it rained, I did my longest outdoor run.  Maybe today will be a day that I do another longest run!

did 13 miles. felt good.  my legs tensed up around mile 10 and I had to pee so so so bad!  *tee-hee* but did my first outside 13 mile all at once run. gotta love it!

did my morning run and looking forward to a nice day of biking and running.

yesterday i was exhausted. i layed on the couch and literally could not get up. i was just pushed to a breaking point.  feeling better today, maybe i just needed a rest.

did my bike ride. that is the longest I can go working out without music. I get to the point that I can't stand the sound of my own thoughts!

did my extra 8 miles. feels good to put some road under my feet and just go. i love trail running!

not a very good morning. My leg cramped up, and I had to stop after 2.5 miles.  I will, hopefully, be able to make up the miles this afternoon!

nice bike ride. plenty of time to think and try and work things out in my mind. so far, still confused and frustrated!

got another leg cramp. i guess i need more potassium. so humid outside, with a storm warning. but the storms skip our area...always a  warning, never a storm!

I was doing my treadmill run, when my calf cramped up again. it still hurts so bad. I'm gonna take today and tomorrow off. The last two weeks have been great milage weeks, so two days won't set my training back too much. Ouchie!

didn't go to the gym today. So it will be a nice long outside run later this morning.  But I expanded my bike ride to 8 miles, and a huge hill! 

Yesterday was our anniversary and he tried so hard. He took me mini golfing, and it started raining.  Two weeks of sunshine and then it rains in the middle of a golf game. He is trying and I apprecate it. We rode bikes together, we are trying.

Oh yeah, RF is getting me their newest pair of running shoes AND a new Garmin GPS watch. Oh yeah, oh yeah *happy dance, happy dance*

I was gonna do 10 miles,but my calf cramped up again so I cut it short at 9.1. It felt good to get on the road, and really stretch my legs out. Looking forward to going to the gym tomorrow and really cranking some miles this week!

Did my 45 min of time intervals. felt good to get my legs going. a little sore from yesterday. but I did it.

off to bike 8 miles...then another 10 mile run...hopefully!

Did only 7  miles. :( My hamstring kept cramping up and I had to stop and re stretch it, so I called it a day after 7 miles. 

I have 17 days until a big company dinner for my husband. I want to trim down another 4-6 pounds. Among all the wifes in his division, I am literally the only one that exercises, including his bosses wife and the division head's wife.  Dh said he is looking forward to showing me off and I get a new dress for the event.  I can safely lose between 4 and 6 pounds, unsafely I can go down as much as 10 pounds. But exercising and eating right for me at this point isn't about drastic weight loss. I can always stand to lose a little more, but I do want to trim down just a touch more!

I added 5 min on to my 45 min intervals for 50 min total. Gradually gonna add 5 more..and 5 more and 5 more...*tee-hee*

On a huge down hill slope, I was gaining speed, went to slow down, and my rear brakes snapped...why me?  Thankfully the front brakes worked great!  Time to get it repaired....again!  *tee-hee*

did 10 miles outside. Nice and slow. I stopped to stretch every couple of miles. I'm pushing it on miles, but not time. Nice and slow....

Middle of my intervals, I got cramped up and had to cut it short. I want to push it, but not  hurt myself.

did the 7.25 mile loop into a huge head wind. I hate Michigan weather....It's summer and 59 degrees, rainy and windy. Looks like fall is here!

I ran in the rain...nothing better than a long run in the rain!

Rode my bike to the gym (9 mile round trip) and did an hour of time intervals on the tready. Got 7.08 miles in, and after breakfast I'm off to do another 8 miles on the track. First day of his vacation, and he hasn't gotten out of bed. lucky him.

took a nice long run. felt good!  what a way to kick off the week!
