Running Accomplishments:

 I started running last year, my first race was December 2008. It was my first 5k. In the past year I have done 5k's, a 5 miler, 10k, 10 miler and my first half marathon. I started running so I could keep off the weight I had lost (70 pounds). And in running, I have found solace, peace, and friendships.

Short-Term Running Goals:

 My goals for 2010 are:

*2150 total miles

*finish a walking/jogging marathon

*a 2 hour half marathon

Long-Term Running Goals:

  I want to take each year as it comes.

2009 goal was just to run. I did make the goal of 2000 miles. It was my first year running. I will update my total on the 31st of January.

 

Personal:

 This past year has been frought with difficulty, trials, and stress. But it has also been a blessing. I learned what I can do, what my body can do, and how to make myself what I want to be.

My three kids have been a wonderful inspiration, and my husband, not matter how we fuss, fit or fight, is ultimately my best friend.

did my second run, but my hips starting hurting, bad!  Felt like bone rubbing on bone..time for some vitamin I  and any cures if you have 'em!

I needed to do the afternoon run. things are falling apart at home and running is the only thing i have to keep me focused and in control.

Race week!  Saturday is a 10K trail race.

Crapped out at 1.4 miles this morning. my hamstring started hurting...with a race on Saturday, I don't want to push it. did some weights and will do a light run this afternoon!

 

did 20 min of cardio and 40 min of weights. felt good!

Ran another 5 miles this afternoon. trying to keep my miles down this week, have a big 10k trail race on Saturday. Don't want to over do it right before a race!

The race was great!  Still waiting on the results to be posted!

But I did go to the Running Fit Volunteer party...and I was named their favorite volunteer!  The owners and the director of RF gave me a gift card, a duffle bag filled with lots of goodies.  It was so sweet!  I had so much fun!

Couldn't ask for more! My second 10k, but my first trail 10k!  Lots of hills, lots of twists and turns, and lots of mud!  Loved every second of it!  Even when I biffed it down a hill!

felt good to get back on the road this morning.

forced myself to do a full 5 mile trail run today. was having a hard time, but i did it. my milage this week won't be great, but i'm getting back to it!

did 3 miles at the gym this morning.  we are in the middle of huge thunderstorms.

in between storms, I ran another 6 miles outside. the humidity is sky high, and we are about to get pummelled with more storms in the next hour or so.  but it was a great run! why is it that running outside is so so so much more fun, better, less BORING that running at the gym???

3 miles of quarter mile sprints, and 3.2 miles of incline intervals.  fun fun!

20 min weights, 20 min cardio

another 5 miles outside.

my training plan: work my way up to 13 miles a day. Once I hit a week of 13 miles per day, decrease my inside running by 1 mile per day, per week, and increase my outside runs by 1 mile per day per week, until I am doing 13 miles per day outside and cross training on something else inside.

i have to take a break from running. the store that I volunteer for will give me a new pair of shoes for a couple of weeks of 'scut' work in the office. It's only a couple days a week, for a couple weeks. but the shoes i have now are hurting me and my husband refuses to as he puts it "finance my obsession". Thanks honey, so much!

I FINALLY GET NEW SHOES! I convinced my husband that new shoes are cheaper than having to take me to the hospital with a torn ligament or tendon!  Phew...picking them up today! Can't wait for tomorrow's run!

finished my second run...feels so good to have new shoes...no aches in my legs, just the normal breaking in shoes feeling. I love it!

almost at 1000 miles for the year....may not be a big thing for some, but for me, for someone that is new to running, it is HUGE!

i hate Michigan weather. I hate wind in June. I hate the men walking by that make rude gestures and comments as I run by. I hate the overweight women making comments as I run by. 

but i love running.
