| Location: Ypsilanti,MI,United States Member Since: Dec 13, 2008 Gender: Female Goal Type: Marathon Finish Running Accomplishments: I started running last year, my first race was December 2008. It was my first 5k. In the past year I have done 5k's, a 5 miler, 10k, 10 miler and my first half marathon. I started running so I could keep off the weight I had lost (70 pounds). And in running, I have found solace, peace, and friendships. Short-Term Running Goals: My goals for 2010 are:
*2150 total miles
*finish a walking/jogging marathon
*a 2 hour half marathon Long-Term Running Goals: I want to take each year as it comes.
2009 goal was just to run. I did make the goal of 2000 miles. It was my first year running. I will update my total on the 31st of January.
Personal: This past year has been frought with difficulty, trials, and stress. But it has also been a blessing. I learned what I can do, what my body can do, and how to make myself what I want to be.
My three kids have been a wonderful inspiration, and my husband, not matter how we fuss, fit or fight, is ultimately my best friend. |

| | I was doing incline intervals, then realized I needed to do a short workout because this Saturday is my first 5 mile trail race. It's race week! YEAH! Can't wait! Supposed to be 75 and sunny! WHOOPEE! | Comments(1) |
| | three mile sprints. my cold is settling in my chest...not fun. I am going to try and flush this thing out of my system before the race. If there is no rain today, I am going to do another 4 miles this afternoon. I also have 5000 race packets to fill, staple and scan into the computer for RF. Love my life! | Add Comment |
| | my cold has settled into my chest, thinking it will be an extended stay. I am trying to flush it out of my system with water and green tea. I took some cold meds last night, made me loopy. I have a 5 mile trail race on Saturday, I just hope my lungs will recover! | Add Comment |
| | did a nice light run this morning. On the way to the gym, a guy jumped out on the highway and was trying to hitch a ride. scared me half to death! My cold is almost gone. I'm making chicken soup to kick the butt of the rest of my cold. This chicken soup can cure a cold faster than I can sneeze! I love it! Two days until my first 5 mile trail race. It is the first of a series called the Serious Series. If I do all three in the series, I get awarded a glass plaque stating that I did the serious series. I'm excited! So excited! | Add Comment |

Road Ends 5 Mile Trail Run (5 Miles) 00:47:42, Place overall: 150, Place in age division: 5 | |
Results are still pending, but I crossed the start line at 1:40, and crossed the finish line at 42 minutes and change. The course was very very hilly, the worst of the series (Serious Series). I started in the back, worked my way to the middle, and I was working the hills. As people were using the downhill portion to gain speed, I went down hill moderatly, and was able to power up the hills, passing every one in my way.
About half way through a tough hill, I kinda wheezed out a "not another one". The guy next to me told me to turn around and go home. I looked at him, yelled "on the left", and kicked it into high gear and left him in the dust. Kiss my dust!
In the final straight away, I had two women on my heels. One passed me, barely getting infront of me when I kicked it into high gear again, and powered right by her. She and I crossed the final sensor neck and neck. Whether I finished in front of her or not is not the issue, the fact that I found that final burst to make it to the end!
No matter where I placed, I am proud of myself! I did it! I kicked butt and took names! I did it!
*Results are in* I placed 5th in my age division (out of 40 women) and 150th out of over 500 runners! I kicked booty! | Add Comment |
