Running Accomplishments:

 I started running last year, my first race was December 2008. It was my first 5k. In the past year I have done 5k's, a 5 miler, 10k, 10 miler and my first half marathon. I started running so I could keep off the weight I had lost (70 pounds). And in running, I have found solace, peace, and friendships.

Short-Term Running Goals:

 My goals for 2010 are:

*2150 total miles

*finish a walking/jogging marathon

*a 2 hour half marathon

Long-Term Running Goals:

  I want to take each year as it comes.

2009 goal was just to run. I did make the goal of 2000 miles. It was my first year running. I will update my total on the 31st of January.

 

Personal:

 This past year has been frought with difficulty, trials, and stress. But it has also been a blessing. I learned what I can do, what my body can do, and how to make myself what I want to be.

My three kids have been a wonderful inspiration, and my husband, not matter how we fuss, fit or fight, is ultimately my best friend.

today was supposed to be my quarter mile inclines for 8 miles....liar! Did 4 miles of inclines, and my legs  are just killing me. Wound up doing 5 miles. gonna rest a bit, then do another 5 miles later. my legs are just on fire.

jumped back on, couldn't get my rhythm, legs are sore, hit the emergency button...just a craptastic day.

Took a few extra days off last week. wasn't feeling well, just needed some downtime. Needed to create some goals. So here goes:

by Feb 14th (valentines day) I will:

drop 10 pounds....sounds like a lot, but really it's not. that's just 2.5 pounds a week. And with my new training schedule, it is completely doable.

M,W,F: 2 seperate runs, with a short weight set.

T and TH: 1 med run (7 miles ish) with a long weight set.

Need to tone up my tummy and legs a bit. But I can do it!

did my second run. most milage since august and training for the half marathon. loved each step. felt good to split the runs in two. might do it again tomorrow!

did a really short run this morning. I am off my game. DH dropped a bomb...he wants to more to Shrieveport Louisana. Ok..out of the blue....drop everything and move....I don't know what is going on, or why he is doing this. he said we will talk about it on Thursday. Yeah, it was just a good hard blasting run. didn't look at the mph or the incline, just jacked it up when I felt like it and slowed down when I needed. probably the best workout so far this year!

did 30 min of incline intervals and 30 min of pace work, and a 5 min cool down.  good run. looking forward to running outside this afternoon.  nice and warm at 33 degrees! its a heat wave!

Oh and did my first weigh in this morning. I lost 6 pounds last week. I know the first week, with me, I lose a bunch of weight. The following weeks tapers to 2-3 pounds a week. But 6 pounds...not bad!

I kicked butt!  230th out of 1167 runners...average pace 7:34...and I placed 5th for my age!  23:30!  Can't believe it!  I am so proud! Last year was 24:19...so I did much better!

ah....no way i'm going to make my weight goal by sunday...not gonna happen. So, I re tooled my goal, and it IS 10 pounds in the next 5 weeks.  My anniversary is 5 weeks from yesterday, and even though I am 65 pounds lighter than our first date...I want to lose the last 10 pounds.

So each week my goal is 2 pounds. a nice easy goal. Nothing to stressful, no starvation!

been struggling with some personal issues the last couple weeks. that always throws me off my game.

but i have adopted a new view point...it is what it is....it is not my drama, and i don't want it. if I can go 'zen' about things, then I am able to put things where they belong and get on with my life.

It's been a rough couple  months. I decided to hold off on racing this year. Just lost my passion for it. So with that, my miles fell, and I've gotten into a depressive funk.  I hate it. I hate where I am and where my life is going.

So, rather than sit here and complain about my new found weight gain (yuck) and lethargy, i am going into my training mode. I am happiest when I am training for a race. So I am upping my miles and workouts. I am trying (so freaking hard) to change my mindset. I've started taking my vitamins again.  I love b complex.  But if I put as much effort into training as I have into feeling sorry for myself, then I will be fine. I've already tackled the hardest part...realizing that I have a problem and I need to fix it.

My mood has elevated, a lot.  I am more focused now, than I have been in ages. I am ready to take on the day!

I think pushing myself to run longer has helped pull me from my funk.  I was doing too much eliptical, and couldn't figure out why my miles were sucking and hard.  so i elipitcal on the weekends and run during the week.

we are going on vacation this weekend, Friday through monday. I will be bike riding during those days and pick up running again on Tuesday.  Going up north to Petoskey.  I don't know how to spell it, let alone say it!  Looking forward to a getaway!

changed my sprint speed from 8.0mph to 8.5mph. so I go from 7.3, 7.4, 8.5, 7.6, 7.7. One minute each, at .5, 1.0 and 1.5 incline.  getting better. not looking to add to the miles, just the degree of difficulty.

Took the holiday weekend off to enjoy myself. And I did, a little too much. Got a ton of sun, ate whatever I wanted (haven't done that in a LONG time), and now is time to get back on course. As much as I loved this weekend, I longed to run. I missed it. Now is time to atone for my sins (food and laziness) and get back into shape. I have another trip planned for the 4th of july weekend.  I have to wear a full swim suit, we are going to a RV waterpark. 33 days until I have to be in a bikini.  No subsitutions and no going back.  Can't wait! Bring it on!

had to call it a day at 7.04 miles. got a sharp pain running from the left side of my lower back, going down to my knee and up to my shoulder. Any ideas? I pushed it a little harder on the incline intervals today. maybe that's it. i don't know. but i did run and get my time in.

my son is getting an academic award at school today, has his 8th grade dance tomorrow and graduates 8th grade next Friday! I can't believe it...where did the time go? Oh and my middle son turns 8 at the end of the month!  *tear*

I will be taking the week off, due to injury!  My sciatic nerve is acting up, and anything that has impact hurts. If it doesn't start to feel better by Friday, I will be heading to a chiropractor on Monday.  See you all next week, hopefully!
